COME ONE, COME ALL! STICKY SITUATION GIVES RISE TO HOLIDAY CONTEST FOR CHARITY

Katwoman Muses: Oval Office May be Bastion of Safe Sex -- But Wouldn't a Condom Have Helped the Body Politic?

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 1, 1998) - You've encountered her on the Web, in Bikini and Axcess magazines, perhaps even perused her Katshop. More recently, you may have been stopped by her mud-slinging in a "rough and tumble" photo for a Vans shoes ad campaign featured in Vibe and Paper magazines. Today, a month before Christmas, Shannon Marie Codner, aka Katwoman -- the 'Net's sexiest computer nerd - announced a decidedly different holiday-themed contest, sponsored by Katwoman.com (with help from Condom Sense, a company dedicated to delivering quality name-brand condoms directly to your doorstep, discretely and for less). "For better or worse, everyone's talking about the Lewinsky tapes and the entire sordid Zippergate matter," explained Codner, whose visage launched nearly 8 million downloads last year. "We want to have a little fun with it and do some good in the process. So we got to thinking: If Bill Clinton had been wearing a condom, there would be no cum-stained dress - and the nation would be in a very different place today. In that spirit, we want to hear from men and women about how condoms have gotten them out of sticky situations."

To enter, just submit an essay of up to 250 words detailing a true-life scenario in which a condom changed your life. The winner will receive a safe-sex gift basket, valued at $150, filled with an assortment of condoms, lubes, a book, a special secret surprise -- compliments of Condom Sense -- and autographed photos of Katwoman. In addition, Katwoman.com will make a donation to the American Foundation for AIDS Research in the winner's honor. Three runners-up will receive Katwoman autographed photos. Essays can be funny, serious or outrageous, but they must reflect true-life situations; e.g., "If I had worn a condom, I wouldn't have had triplets at the age of 18." Or, "Flavored condoms changed my life because they're easy to carry and fun to eat." Entries will be judged on the basis of originality, use of humor and honesty. The winning entry and three runners-up will be posted on the Katwoman site on New Year's Eve. Deadline for entries is December 26, 1998; submissions should be sent to edgepress@mindspring.com.

Site for Sore Eyes

After participating in the contest, visitors can check out the pages of the recently revamped Katwoman site, which includes new graphics, the quarterly Katwoman newsletter, major additions to the Kat Shop, provocative links, and an expanded collection of photos. The Kat Shop features sexy clothing lines for men and women - including Red Dog, Budweiser gear, BodyGlove, and lingerie from Shirley of Hollywood, useful goodies from Condom Sense, plus novelty items and autographed photo sets. The full line of Condom Sense products can be ordered securely online. As a model, Codner's versatility - from "cutesy schoolgirl" to "cheesecake pin-up babe" -- has attracted a growing coterie of leading glamour and fashion photographers, among them Dan Peterson, Tony Donaldson, Gary Dubie, Donn Thompson and Stan Malinowski. Her image has also served her well in an endless parade of online and off-line competitions: the Midwest Model's Contest, Hit the Beach, Bikini Model of the Year for Surf-Sand-N-Bikinis, and a score more. She's also among the newest members of the Extreme Bikini Team, and did background work for an Ice-T film and an NBA commercial. An enthusiastic exponent of the "natural look," Codner currently ranks 7th on the Bellybutton Walk of Fame. "I guess it's not every Web geek who begins a modeling career, but the reception I've received in the past two years just continues to amaze me," she said. "I'm also encouraged that the current trend seems to be favoring 'natural' women, with publications like 'Perfect 10' and Playboy's 'Naturals' saying that you can be beautiful even if you're not enhanced. Even in L.A.!" Codner -- who obtains virtually all of her modeling assignments through the Internet - just starred in an ad campaign for Vans shoes and will be featured on the CD cover of the up-and-coming rock band Sleeve. "The Vans shoot was incredibly memorable," she said. "The mud wrestling was a real departure. Let's just say, incoming Gov. Jesse Ventura has nothing on us!" Katwoman is clearly more than just a pretty face. A self-taught Web artist, she has fashioned a career from a URL, modeling by day, writing HTML scripts by night. A former honors student and a self professed nerd trapped in a model's body, cyberspace is as near as the family business. In addition to her forays into Web commerce via the Kat Shop, Codner is also co-owner of the computer consulting firm Systex Information Systems. The Katwoman site receives thousands of hits each week, and includes some 100 links to various sites featuring Codner's likeness. Additional signature Katwoman products are in the works.
